Asian themed weddings can really add decadence to your wedding with satins and brocade, the rich colours of red, black and gold, and stunning orchids and cherry blossom.
Bamboo is also great for an Asian wedding, you may be lucky enough to have bamboo growing in your garden. This looks fantastic used in table centres, or even tied on the top of a favour box.
If you’re handy with a sewing machine, consider buying bolts of Chinese printed satin fabric from Chinatown in your capital city, and using lengths of these as table runners. Finish your chairs with a matching chair tie, or use a complementary colour with a silk orchid or cherry blossom tied in the back.
At discount shops you will find a range of items that are perfect for your Asian themed wedding:

At the supermarket you will find large square white platters for around $7 each. Place some pillar candles on it, then surround with white stones also available at discount shops, and scatter with silk orchid or cherry blossom flowers.
Shopping at Chinatown is sure to turn up lots of gems for bomboniere – fabric, Asian snap purses, Chinese spoons – perfect for placing a chocolate truffle on (see picture), sandalwood fans, Asian noodle takeout boxes, incense and more.
And you can’t go past fortune cookies for the perfect sweet gift – searching on the internet you will even find wedding themed or personalised fortune cookies.
Lanterns are a great way of lighting your reception, you can get a lovely range of Asian paper lanterns that look stunning when strung above reception tables.
