Paperglitz invitation inspiration

I thought today I’d have a look at some of the gorgeous DIY invitations you can make from the Paperglitz range.

I am a stockist of Paperglitz but haven’t had a chance to put many of their products onto The Wise Bride’s website as yet, so I thought I would showcase some of their range.

This invitation has a real touch of Hollywood glamour.  It uses a square folding card and the front is then covered in pearl white embossed diamond paper.  It’s finished with a black satin ribbon and gorgeous round dual layer diamante buckle.

Perfect for a black and white wedding theme, this invitation features a ‘Curious Metallics’ backing card in black/Hades and a black floral glitter add-a-pocket.  The insert slides into the pocket and is tied with a satin ribbon – RSVP cards and envelopes can then be slipped into the pocket behind the insert.

This lovely invitation has a vintage feel.  It features a glamour pocket in peacock ivory pearl, a black ribbon and an elegant ebony square diamante cluster.  The insert simply slides out to reveal your special announcement.

I like the simple elegance of this invitation which features a DL card in Curious Metallics ice gold. The front is decorated with a strip of Chiffon – Olivia White Pearl Silver Foil, along with a combination of Silver and White satin ribbons and a stunning round diamante buckle.

This pretty invitation features a Glamour Pocket in Metallic Pebbles Ivory. It is finished with a lovely cream satin ribbon, faux 10mm pearl and a printed translucent wrap. The insert slides out to reveal your special announcement.

And finally, this invitation has a contemporary feel, it features a stunning Glamour Pocket in White Pearl. It is decorated with Olive Green Parasilk (Opaque Satin) ribbon and a dual layer round diamante buckle.

You can view more of their range on the Paperglitz website.

Wedding inspiration from MADEIT

Some time ago I featured some wedding items from Aussie sellers on etsy.com and today I thought I’d have a look at some wedding products on MADEIT (www.madeit.com.au) an Australian site similar to etsy (on their homepage select ‘Wedding’ from the categories on the left hand side).  The products below are just a tiny snapshot of the huge range of gorgeous products available by some very talented Aussie artisans.

Nyjole J Walters makes a stunning range of jewellery and hair accessories, this beautiful fascinator is just one of her amazing creations.

These sweet die-cut invitations by Tambo Creations are just perfect for a bridal shower or hen’s party

Aren’t these just the cutest cake toppers?  Seller Sarah of Enchanted Belles makes them using clothespins and can customise them to the colours and clothes that you choose.

Looking for a special gift for your bridesmaids?  Then these cute silver bird charm necklaces would make the perfect pressie.  A beautiful handmade creation by PaperandRibbons.

And for the special little girls in your wedding check out these gorgeous raw silk rosettes (headpiece or sash) from SA based seller Under My Wing

New handmade products

Well it’s been a while since I’ve posted as I’ve been pretty busy trying to source handmade products and making some changes to the site.

A while ago I posted that the focus of the Wise Bride will be changing more to handmade and personalised products as I think this is what couples are wanting more of for their big day.

So, I’ve been doing lots of research to try and find beautiful handmade items and slowly I’m adding to the range.

Today I’ll showcase some beautiful products I’m going to be stocking by andyANDmolly Designs who are  an Australian jewellery design team producing gorgeous, unique costume jewellery.

Pieces are made from a range of materials including sterling silver, semi precious gemstones (including rose quartz, blue turquoise, crystal, onyx, white turquoise), hand crafted Mykonos beads, mother of pearl, freshwater pearls and more

It will take me a week or so to get them onto the site, so here’s a ‘sneak peek’ – enjoy!

Wedding expo 21 March

I am so pleased to have been part of The Observatory Function Centre’s expo on 21 March, it was a day of style and elegance with some beautiful stands, and the perfect number of couples coming through to give exhibitors the time to really talk with them properly.  My sincere thanks to Belinda and her dedicated team at The Observatory for all of their help.

The exhibitors included the amazing I Do Digital whose wedding videos need to be seen to be believed.

The girls at Sugar and Spice cakes gave us some absolutely delicious cake samples…

…and the chocolate fountain with marshmallows from Wickedly Good was deliciously decadent!

Chaircovers Over All always have stunning table settings

And we loved Destill Photography’s photos and albums – stunningly beautiful.

And lastly, here are some pics of my stand (apologies for the quality – I am obviously not a professional photographer!)

What’s in store in 2010

It’s the start of a new year and I’m so excited about what the year ahead holds for The Wise Bride so I thought I’d share it with you.

This year The Wise Bride is going to take a slightly different direction with a focus on more invidual hand-made and personalised items so that couples can really tailor their bomboniere and accessories to their wedding.  Personalised items are always really popular and make an extra-special keepsake for guests and a lovely memory for the wedding couple.

Amongst the handmade items will be a new range of silk flower bouquets and wrist-corsages which I think are really coming back into vogue.  This will also tie in with my love of all things vintage.

We will soon be offering a gorgeous range of personalised clothing by Oscar and Lilly including vests and t-shirts, swimwear, bridesmaid and usher gifts and lots of other items.

As newly approved retailers for Kate Aspen we will be adding more of her gorgeous range to our site which is already proving very popular with couples.

We’re currently negotating with a new ribbon supplier which will allow for a much wider range of personalised ribbons AND we’ll be adding a range of DIY stationery including Paperglitz and Christina Re products.

And if that’s not enough (phew!), we’ll be giving our website another small makeover to freshen it up!

So, keep checking back to the site www.thewisebride.com.au to see these new items being added throughout the year.

Free wedding websites

Hello! Lucky's Chandelier design at mywedding.com

Wedding websites are a great way to keep your family and friends updated with your wedding details, so I thought I’d have a look at some of the free wedding websites available and compare their features (I’m not affiliated with any of these sites).

In Australia i-do.com.au has a range of great free features as well as a wedding website including a wedding scrapbook for ideas and suppliers, personal planner and budget.  A free website is available when you make i-do.com.au your homepage.

In the US Wedding Wire has a lovely range of designer themes and the features include a unique URL, unlimited pages and standard pages that include a calendar of events, registry and more.  Below is the featured ‘destination’ theme.

Project Wedding has a stunning range of designer themes and the features include unlimited photos, guestbook and maps.

www.momentville.com has 100 themes to choose from and they’re all free.  The features include managing invitations and RSVPs, unlimited pages, ad free, guest books, guest uploads, slideshows and videos and no expiry date.  For a one-off fee of $39.95 you can get a premium site which includes music, increased storage, password protection and a downloadable keepsake.  Below is the ‘damask’ theme in berry smoothie.

mywedding.com has some stunning designs with music, guestbook, managing RSVPs, online gift registry and group emails.  A great idea is that all websites have matching stationery designs from some well-known US designers including Wedding Paper Divas, Papeterie and Hello! Lucky.  Check out the beautiful ‘Butterfly Love’ design from Wedding Paper Divas.

DIY felt wreath

I came across this gorgeous ruffled felt wreath on the domestifluff blog and just had to share it – it would be perfect for weddings, decorating a Church door, or little ones could decorate pews.  What’s more, it would cost hardly anything to make (although it does look a bit time-consuming).  It’s made by pinning hundreds (yes, possibly around 300!) circles of felt onto a styrofoam wreath shape, lots of work but worth it, it really does look lovely.

Laura & Michael’s vintage wedding

Laura and Michael Neibling were married on 28 October 2009 in a stunning vintage 1930s train themed wedding and they found The Wise Bride’s vintage 1920s pillow box to be just perfect for their bomboniere!

They have sent me some gorgeous photos of the boxes on their tables which will soon go up on the real weddings section of the site, but the exciting news is that their wedding has been featured on a couple of websites – Easy Weddings and Brideonline  where you can see more pics of their entire wedding.

You can view our lovely design on our website

Martha Stewart DIY

Things have been crazy the last month or so with little time to update the blog or find inspiration, so once again I find myself turning to Martha Stewart, who is always guaranteed to inspire me.  I receive the daily email ‘Darcy’s Idea of the Day’ and thought I’d share some recent DIY ideas.

Just married banner

This lovely banner is made using letters of the alphabet, each encircled by a different border.  The letters are a whimsical take on the old-fashioned look of vintage typewriter keys. You can print the designs on standard paper and cut or punch them out; make two small slits near the top just inside the decorative border, and weave a 1/4-inch ribbon through.  You can view the detailed instructions here.  I think this would look great with the word ‘Love’ to hang on your cake table, or use your names to hang over a buffet table.

Lace clip art

This idea uses pretty lace clip art to decorate tags and favour bags – it would look great on stationery too.

Favour cones

These sweet favour cones were made using crepe paper for the liner and card stock for the outer cone printed with a quarter-circle design.  They’d be great for packaging candy almonds, chocolates or rock candy.
